Study No. 5: Love between friends

They know each other and yet they don’t.

Like two moons orbiting the same

planet, only realizing the other

at their most recent eclipse.

Hey, I think I’ve seen you before, man

No way, we have that class together, too!

The conversation continues

punctuated by the novelty of 

meeting a new friend with 

familiar overtones.

There is an invitation to connect, a

promise to say hi.

Then a gentle wish,

Hey, Happy Valentine’s Day, man.

And even better, a receipt

Thanks, you too, man

I heard once that love between 

friends is the best kind of love.

Today, I believe it.
